Legal age of marriage and civil partnership in England and Wales rises to 18

The Marriage and Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Act 2022 comes into force today (27 February 2023) (see LNB News 31/01/2023 2). From this date, 16 and 17-year-olds in England and Wales cannot marry or enter into a civil partnership, even if they have the consent of their parents or the court.
